Marketing/Business/Trade” would also be required for all students. Also all students would be required to take a course in fine arts (art, music, dance or theater.)
Students going for the Advanced Studies diploma would be required to take four years of one foreign language or two years each of two languages. They would also be required to take two units in “Technical Arts,” defined as “typing, accounting. computer training, etc.”
Students attempting the Applied Academics Diploma would be required to take algebra or “applied algebra" as one of their three units of math. They would also be required to take three units in laboratory' science (currently only two are required for the general diploma).
If these new requirements are adopted, this would again be verydifficult, even for students taking seven courses each year. It is difficult to see how students taking vocational classes at Piedmont Technical Education Center, which is located south of Culpeper on U.S. 15, could get in all the required coursew-ork with about one and a half hours of their school day taken up in travel to and from Piedmont.
Given the possible requirements and the realities of living in Rappahannock County, it may come to courses being taught on the bus as it travels back and forth from Piedmont to RCHS. Though that maysound ridiculous, the School Board has discussed just such a possibility
