More than 80 retail businessess are located in downtown Culpeper. Many will be open on Sunday, Nov. 19, so that shoppers can sample their holiday offerings.
The Christmas Open House traditionally kicks off the shopping season downtown, but it is just the beginning of five weeks of holiday activities.
Culpeper Downtown Association will organize free movies for children at the State Theater. On three Saturdays, Dec. 2, Dec. 9 and Dec. 16, movies such as “American Tail” and “Land Before Time” will be shown at 10 a.m. The Fraternal Order of Police will show its annual movie for children on Dec. 16.
For the second year a live nativity scene will be displayed on Main Street, starting at 6 p.m., Dec. 15-17. Last year’s scene drew hundreds of onlookers from passing traffic.
