The Sperryville Business Council will celebrate a Blue Ridge Christmas on Nov. 24, 25 and 26. Door prizes, seasonal sales, free refreshments, wreaths, trees, open houses and Christmas cheer will be enjoyed by all. Santa will be visiting various shops on Saturday, Nov. 25. “For gifts with a rich traditional heritage, come to Sperryville and celebrate a Blue Ridge Christmas,” said an organizer. Little League meeting

The initial parents and coaches meeting for Rappahannock County Little League is scheduled for 7:30 p.m., Thursday, Nov. 16, at the Rappahannock County High School. The agenda will include, among other things, the election of officers for 1990 and a discussion of the structure of the league and how to cope with the rapid growth the league has experienced over the past several years. Flint Hill VFD fundraiser

The Flint Hill Volunteer Fire Department is sponsoring a gun raffle to raise money for the department. One gun will be given away for each of the next 12 months. Tickets are $20 each, are good for the entire 12-month period, and are available from any Flint Hill VFD member. They may also be ordered by mail; send a check or money order payable to Flint Hill VFD, P.O. Box 150, Flint Hill, Va. 22627. Tickets will be sent by return mail.

Animal welfare to meet

The Rappahannock Animal Welfare League will meet on Tuesday, Nov. 21, at 7:30 p.m., at the Washington fire hall. All members and interested persons are urged to attend.

Hatha yoga classes

Hatha yoga classes are ongoing at the Child Care and Learning Center, Monday evenings, beginning Nov. 20, from 6 to 7 p.m. Beginners are welcome. For more information, call 703-349-9221, days.

OKs return to concert Nov. 18

The Who did it. The Rolling Stones did it. Now it's the OKs’ turn. The popular dance band that made the decade between 1975 and 1985 Rappahannock County’s golden age of rock and roll is reunited and launching a Relapse ’89 Tour this Saturday night, Nov. 18, at the fire hall in Washington. The music gets underway at 8 p.m. Admission is $7; a portion of the gate and the proceeds from the sale of sodas, coffee, nachos and pizza will benefit Spring Mountain School.

Youth sponsor relief project

The Youth Choir of First Baptist Church, Washington is sponsoring a relief project for the victims of Hurricane Hugo and the San Fransisco earthquake on Saturday, Nov. 18, from 9 a.m.-l p.m., at the church. If you would like to participate, clothing articles for men, women and children of all ages will be accepted. Also linens and other utility items, as well as boxes for packaging will be needed. (No food, please.) First Baptist youth invite other youth and school friends to participate.

'The Adventures of Baron Munchausen

The movie The Adventures of Baron Munchausen will be playing at the Gay Street theatre on Friday, Nov. 17, and Sunday, Nov. 19, at 7:30 p.m. each evening. Terry Gilliam (of Monty Python fame) creates a gigantic comic fantasy that offers one brilliant, dazzlingly outlandish image after another. The movie is rated PG.
