Thanksgiving Day will bring a double celebration for Mrs. Mattie Ball Fletcher of Washington, who will mark her 101 st birthday on Nov. 23. Along with the rest of Rappahannock County, we wish Mrs. Fletcher a happy birthday and many happy returns!
Moodmobile in Washington
The Red Cross Bloodmobile will be at the Washington fire hall on Monday, Nov. 27 from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. The visit is being sponsored by the county's Extension Homemaker Clubs, and includes evening hours to encourage participation by those county residents who work elsewhere during the day. Anyone who is in good health and is at least 17 years old and weighs 110 pounds may donate blood. There is a continuing shortage of blood across the country, and the Homemakers encourage everyone to "give the gift of life." For more information about blood ^pf*ations, call Extension Homemakers

Ridge Christmas
The merchants of Sperryville will celebrate their third annual Blue Ridge Christmas over Thanksgiving weekend, Nov. 24, 25 and 26. Shops in town and along U.S. 211 west of the village will have special sales of seasonal merchandise and other items in the country atmosphere of a small rural town. There will be door prizes, refreshments, wreaths, greenery and lots of Christmas cheer, according to the . organizers. The event Is Sponsored^ the _ - Sperryville Business Council, which urges everyone by bypass the malls this season, visit Sperryville and "shop the country way."
