• Use candles all around your home during the holidays. They don't cost much and their wonderful aroma and glow adds warmth and a welcoming feel to any home. But be cautious; don't ever leave candles unattended;
• Make a great swag for your front door in about 10 minutes with a couple of 2-feet long (approximated evergreen branches. Place the : branches end to end with the thickest part of the branches in the center. Join them at that point with heavy wire looping it around the branches. Attach a huge red bow made from 3-inch weatherproof ribbon, and hang the swag on a nail on your front door.
You can also make these swags in smaller versions for mailboxes, lampposts, and fences.
Indoor versions look beautiful with velvet bows.
If you don't have an evergreen which could stand a bit of pruning, don't dash off to hack away at the neighbor s. Nearly all Christmas tree lots sell the branches they trim from trees for a nominal price, or you can use your own if you have a live tree
• Tie a piece of ribbon around a few sticks of cinnamon, and place them around the house. Always remember to snip each end of the ribbons in a V-shape. This little touch makes ribbons used in decorating and on gift packages look more festive.
