“The town charter goes by the survey, not by the tax map,” Mayor Dean Morehouse told Mr. Smoot. “If that’s the case, then we can get this straightened out.”

Council member' Peter Skowronski expressed a preference for resolving the problem by resurveying the boundaries to conform to lot lines.

“That’s a boundary adjustment,” Councilman Ray Gooch pointed out. “We decided at the last meeting that we didn’t want to redraw the boundaries.”

“I never would have agreed to that,” Mr. Skowronski replied. “We should put them back in just like they were taken out.”

“Dean (Mayor Morehouse) raised the question of boundary adjustments,” Mr. Gooch explained. “We decided that instead of individual boundary line adjustments that we would pursue an evenhanded policy.”
