To the editor:
If Harold Artz said the things reported in the Rappahannock News about the citizens of Scrabble in their use of the dumpsters in the Scrabble area, he probably did make it a little strong and should not have lumped all the citizens of Scrabble into the “pig” category.
In my travels around the county I have observed the dumpsters at Scrabble and Flint Hill, and at times I have observed an accumulation of trash and appliances all around the areas. I have also observed scavengers in and out of the dumpsters, throwing the trash this way and that, not helping the situation at all.
Before the landfill, Amissville’s dumpsters were the worst of the three. I am afraid we had some “pigs” using our dumpsters!
As much as we dislike having a landfill in our area, I, for one, am happy to have someone as conscientious and responsible as Mr. Artz, as the landfill operator.
