Sally Atkins
Miss Sally Ethel Atkins, 83, of Sperryville, died Jan. 19 at the residence of her nephew, Marshall Atkins, with whom she had been living for the past two and a half years.
Daughter of the late Lloyd Andris and Martha Caroline Atkins, she was a native of Rappahannock County.
She is survived by a brother, Lee Andris Atkins, and a sister, Dolly Pullen, both of Sperryville, and a number of nieces and nephews.
A funeral was Jan. 22 at GeestJohnston Funeral Home, the Rev. Kirby Shenk officiating, with interment in Sperryville Cemetery. I Pallbearers were Dean Atkins, Neal Atkins, Ronald Atkins, David Dodson, Mack Dodson, Marshall Dodson, Kinzy Buracker and Nathaniel Dodson.
Ola Hurt
Mrs. Ola Mae Hurt, 82, of Etlan, died Jan. 16 in the University of Virginia Hospital.
She was a native of Page County.
Survivors include five daughters, Ola Louise Broyles of Aylor, Mildred Gordon of Syria, Lula Mae Grayson of Banco, Betty Dyer of Madison, Reda Cave of Etlan; three sons, Charles Edward Hurt of Aroda, Belvin Hurt of Etlan, Bennie Hurt of Criglersville; a great number of grandchildren; a great number of great-grandchildren; and a great number of great-great-grandchildren.
Her husband was the late Charlie William Hurt.
Her parents were the late Jake and MolUe Jenkins Cubbage.
A funeral service was Jan. 19 at Clore Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. George Mead officiated. Interment was in Criglersville Cemetery.
Mabel Estes
Mrs. Mabel Blackwell Estes, 83, of Castelton, died Jan. 15 in Culpeper Health Care Center.
Mrs. Estes was a native of Virginia and was a member of Forest Grove Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband, Edward C. Estes of Castleton; three daughters, Annie Clater, Catherine Cannon and Willie Cloud, all of Castleton; three sons, Marshall Estes of Pleasant Hill, La., John Estes of Manassas, Adolph Estes of Castleton; a number of grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Dandy Mills of Rixeyville, Annie Putnam of Arlington.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Dorothy Mauney.
Her parents were the late Henry Samuel and Lucy Barron Blackwell. Graveside services were Jan. 18 at Hillcrest Memory Gardens, with the Rev. A.C. Walker officiating. Clore Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
