Rappahannock County High School’s varsity and junior varsity volleyball teams are gaining experience and power with each game, according to coach Scott Mellott.
Coming to the end of a year plagued by change — practices cancelled, games postponed, schedules rearranged — coach Mellot and his teams hope the final change is for another winning game.
The varsity team faces Manassas Park next Friday, Feb. 2 in the school’s gymnasium, with junior varsity players serving the first ball at 7 p.m.
“There is no basketball game and we hope for a tremendous crowd,” the coach said, adding the teams “clobbered Manassas Park earlier,” this year in December’s seasonopening jamboree. Mellot said his varsity team scored 15 points to the Park’s five in the first game and took the second 15-0.
Varsity and junior varsity success has not come so easy for the team since the Manassas Park game.
