“We played well both games,” the coach said, adding the 15-6 score improved by seven points but the team still lost 15-13 in the second game.
“We are feeling frustrated,” coach Mellot said of his teams. “We play well, but we have not mastered the game.”
Mastering tl\e, game means perfecting team work, and that remains the center of Mellot’s volleyball program. With Rappahannock serves improving, starting positions more comfortable and support — from the community and from school and parents — growing, he has high hopes for a final home win in the next season.
“Attendance has improved,” coach Mellot said, explaining community, parental and peer support have each contributed to overall team morale. He hopes that the community will rally next Friday, Feb. 2 and show its support for the Panthers in their season finale
