made in totals;

Rappahannock Newt Staff Writer ~ §everal changes were made in Rappahannock County’s vote totals before they were certified to the State Board of Elections by the county’s Electoral Board last week, according to beard chairman Vinnie Carney.
The biggest change came in the 7th District Congressional contest, where one precinct reported Kay Slaughter’s vote total as being 100 more than it actually was. Ms. Slaughter received 990 votes in Rappahannock, not 1,090 as reported the night of the election. That accounts for why the total number of voters, 2,360, was lower than the total number casting 7th District ballots reported last week.
Also, 7th District write-in candidate Don Macleay got one vote in the county, in Stonewall-Hawthom precinct. -
In the 31st District contest between Bob Darby and Jerry Wood, winner Wood received 231 votes in Washington, not 229 as originally reported. Kevin Miller’s total in Washington should have been 205 (204 was announced election night) and Margaret Haynes got 242 votes in town, not 241, as reported.
