Christmas open house
The Rappahannock County Garden Club will hold its Christmas Open House from 2 to 7 p.m. on Saturday afternoon, Nov. 23. The Club has decorated Whitcaim, the Williamsburg style home of Col. and Mrs. James T. White in the Flint Hill area. Punch will be served and candlelight will enhance the scene as darkness falls.
Citrus fruit on sale
Several groups in the county will be selling fruit until Dec. 2 to help raise money for their respective organizations. Naval oranges ($18 box, $11 1/2 box), red grapefruit ($17 box, $11 1/2 box) and juice oranges ($15 box and $9 1/2 box) are being sold by the RCHS band, the RCHS chorus and the 7th grade students of RCES. Mothering group to meet
The Mothering Cooperative will meet Thursday, Nov. 21 for the monthly mother’s gathering at the Trinity Episcopal Church. A potluck lunch will begin at 11:30 a.m. with a discussion to follow on the reorganization of the Mothering Cooperative for 1992. Members are encouraged to attend. Call 937-3110 for information.
Auction at Castleton
The Castleton Volunteer Fire Department will hold an auction beginning at 7 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 15. Bill Payne will be the auctioneer. If you have any items you would like to donate please call 937-6051.
CPR class
A CPR class will be held at the Castleton Volunteer Fire Department from 7 to 10 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 19 and from 9 a.m. until on Sunday, Nov. 24. The class is open to the public and space is limited. Cost is $10 per person. For more information call 937-3076 after 6 p.m.
Christmas bazaar
On Saturday, Dec. 7 the 9th annual Christmas Crafters Bazaar will be held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Parish Hall of Precious Blood Catholic Church in Culpeper. Available will be Christmas decorations, hand knit sweaters, tye dye afghans, crocheted items and much much more. Baked goods and grab bag items will also be for sale.
Captains needed
Rappahannock County High School’s third annual alumni basketball game will be played Friday and Saturday, Nov. 29 and 30. Four volunteers for team captains are needed immediately so that teams may be drafted. Anyone interested in playing or coaching please call the high school, 987-8575.
Soccer benefit planned
“Pay to Play Day” will be sponsored by the Rappahannock Soccer League beginning at 2 p.m. on Nov. 24. All interested persons 15 and over, non-professional, professional or just plain interested in having an afternoon of fun playing soccer are urged to participate. Fee is $5 per person. The proceeds will go towards an awards banquet for the players. Those interested should call 987-9402 or 937-5483.
Buffet breakfast
The Washington Volunteer Fire Department will sponsor a buffet breakfast from 7 to 11 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 23. Cost is $5 for adults and $3 for children under 12.
Parenting class at CCLC
The Child Care and Learning Center will hold its monthly parenting class at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 14 at the Center. This month’s topic is “Understanding Young Children.” Class will follow a lecture and discussion format. The meeting is open to the public and free of charge.
