Jerry Wood started off his first session as 31st District delegate to the Virginia General Assembly trying to read every one of the bills that he was to consider. After two weeks he gave up on that idea, and 2,348 bills and resolutions later, he returned home to his district, which includes all of Rappahannock and parts of Fauquier and arren counties.
“I think it’s hectic and it’s confusing but the process works. It’s really mind-boggling,” said Del. Wood, owner of the Fauquier Pharmacy and former chairman of the Fauquier Democratic Committee. He was elected to the redrawn 31st District over Republican Bob Darby in November.
The single issue that engendered the greatest response from his constituents, said Del. Wood, was Senate Bill 514, allowing a majority of landowners in a designated historic district to vote down the designation.
