RAPPAHANNOCK COUNTY TRADESMEN CERTIFICATION STANDARDS ORDINANCE
On Monday, April 6, 1002, at 7:00 p.m. at the Courthouse In Washington, VA, the Rappahannock County Board of Supervisors will hold a public hearing to consider the adoption of the following Ordinance: Pursuant to §16.1-11.4 and §36-00 of the Code of Virginia, 1060 (as amended) this Ordinance authorizes the Rappahannock County Building Official to enforoe the provisions of "The Virginia Tradesmen Certification Standards." 1.0 TITLBi This Ordinance may be known and referred to as the Rappahannock County Tradesmen Certification Standards. *.0i REQUIREMENT VOX CERTIPIOATBi The Building Official la hereby designated to act as the enforcing agency for the enforcement of the Virginia Tradesmen Certification Standards, duty adopted by the Virginia Board of Housing and Community Development under authority of §16.1-11.4 and §36.00 of the Code of Virginia. Enforcement shall be according to the terms set forth below. No person who engages In, or offers to engage in, for the general public and for compensation, plumbing, building related mechanical or electrical work in Rappahannock County shall do so without first obtaining a certificate m aooordanoe with this Ordinance, unless such person is exempt by law. To receive such certificate, an applicant must pass an examination to determine his/her qualifications, such examination to be in aooordanoe with the standards of the Board of Housing and Community Development. V.0 ENPORCXMENTi Enforcement of the Tradesmen Certification Standards shall be Instituted by the Building Official In aooordanoe with the provisions of the Virginia Tradesmen Certification Standards. 4.0 PBXSi Every person making application for examination pursuant to this Ordinance shall pay a fee in an amount approved by the Board of Supervisors. Application fees paid pursuant to this Ordinance shall not be refunded to either successful or unsuccessful applicants. 1.0 APPEAL* i The Rappahannock County Board of Building Appeals Is hereby designated as the appeals board to hear appeals arising from the application or Interpretation of the Tradesmen Certification Standards. 6.0 ADMINISTRATIVE PRACTICE*! The Building Official shall establish such procedures or requirements as may be necessary for administration and enforcement of this ordinance. The procedures are to be approved by the Board of Supervisors. T.O VIOLATION OP ORDINANCE! It shall be unlawful for any person, firm or corporation, on or after the effective date of this ordlnanoe, to violate any provision hereof. Any such violation shall be deemed a misdemeanor and any person, firm or corporation oonvlcted of a violation shall be punishable by a fine not more than $600.00. 8.0 XPPXOTXVX DATEi This ordlnanoe shall become effective on July 1, 1992. 6.0 EXEMPTIONS Any person who peseta the requirements of 8eotlon 2.1 A of the Virginia Tradesmen Certification Standards, Is eligible to file for exemption from any further local certification requirement under this ordlnanoe. 10.0 TEMPORARY CXXnnOATIOMi Temporary certification shall be made available under the Tradesmen Certification Standards, and shall be administered in aooordanoe with Section 2.2, Temporary Certification, of the Virginia Tradesmen Certification Standards.
