Contestants sought
The Washington Volunteer Fire Department will be sponsoring Ms. Independence, young ladies ages 13-18 and Little Ms. 4th of July, young ladies ages 4-12. Participants should register before April 1 at which time all participants will receive their tickets. The young lad) selling the most tickets will be crowned Ms. Independence and will receive a $100 savings bond; second place will receive a $50 savings bond. Book signing at library
The Rappahannock Library and Cabin Fever Books are co-sponsoring a slide presentation, questions and answers and a book signing by Chris Johns at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, March 21 at the library.
Pageant planned
The annual Miss Rappahannock Pageant sponsored by the Sperryville Rescue Squad will be held at 7 p.m. on Saturday, April 4 at Rappahannock High School. Practice will be at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, April 2 and will include those between the ages of two and 21 and is open to all Rappahannock County residents. Old Dominion Races
Old Dominion Hunt Point-to-Point Races will be held Saturday, April 4 and Sunday, April 5 at Ben Venue Race Course, 16 miles west of Warrenton on U.S. 211 at Entrance of Route 729. On Saturday the first race begins at noon and on Sunday the Hunter Pairs race begins at 1 p.m. Tickets are $5, children under 12 free. Open house and testing
Wakefield Country Day School, located 10 miles south of Front Royal on U.S. 522 in Huntly, Va. will hold an open house and placement testing beginning at 9 a.m. on March 28 for students who will enter grades pre-kindergarten through grade 12 in the 1992-93 academic year. Daily bus service to and from the school is available within a fifty mile radius, including routes from Winchester, Woodstock, Strasburg, Luray, Manassas, Warrenton and Culpeper.
