Barn dance, bonfire

An old fashion barn dance, sponsored by the Rappahannock Athletic Association, will be held from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 17 at the Digges Farm in Amissville. The band Heavy Dreamer will perform. There will also be a bonfire, door prizes, buffet and set-ups. Cost is $26 per couple, $15 singles, you must be 21 to attend. Tickets will be sold at the gate. Church bake sale

The Fellowship Assembly of God Church will hold a bake sale in Sperryville next to the Post Office beginning at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 3.

Berry reunion

The annual reunion of the late James and Bertha Clark Berry will be held Sunday, Oct. 4 at the Rappahannock Park near Washington. All family and friends are invited and are asked to bring a covered dish. Lunch will be served at 1 p.m.

Playground workday

Rappahannock County Elementary School playground workday is scheduled from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 3. “Bring hammers, saws, rakes, shovels, and weeding implements so that we can improve the existing playground at the elementary school," said an organizer. The community is welcome to pitch in. Bring a bag lunch or a pot luck dish. Rain date Oct. 10.

Artists to demonstrate

The Trading Post will host Maisie Schenandoah and Gerald Schenandoah from the ©nedia Iroquois Conferacy from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Oct. 3 and 4. Mrs. Schenandoah specializes in the art of corn husk dolls. She will be demonstrating her craft along with telling the story behind the “No-Face Doll.” Jerry is a well known Silversmith. He will be demonstrating his art as well as doing jewelry repairs. Also available will be Native American tacos and fry bread. The Trading Post is located on U.S. 211 West, Washington.
