Immediately to the right are steps leading up to the master suite, bedroom, sitting room and large, marble-floored bath, and down to an “English basement” of guest rooms and the lower floor of the original building now a tap room and sitting room with fireplace.

Back in the hall, on the right, is a stately stair to the upper bedrooms, and the attic which served in the Civil War as a “surgery” where wounded were treated.

Beyond the hall is the latest addition, completed in 1990, a large, glass-walled living room overlooking the smoke house, flagged terrace and swimming pool, the ice house and pastures.
