Electric Cooperative, I feel another rate increase in injustifiable. Instead of $37,000 spent on exercise equipment it should have been spent on improvements to the “Rixley” substation and in the clearing of overgrown lines within the communities. At present there are petitions in several local stores opposing Rappahannock Electric’s 7 percent increase. If you care and don’t want to pay any higher rates for such an inadequate utility service, please stop by one of these stores and sign our petitions. Petitions can be found at these stores: Dennis’ Store, Boston General, Laurel Mills, Mayhughs, Hackley’s and Hillsdale. There are also petitions in several stores in Culpeper County. You may also voice your opinion or ask questions at a community wide meeting with Rappahannock Electric from 6 to 9 p.m. on Oct. 8 at Rappahannock High School.
