Membership meeting
The local literacy group (LVA Rappahannock) will hold its annual membership meeting at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 3 at the courthouse. The public is invited.
Support group cookout
The Blue Ridge Head Injury support group will meet for a cookout at the Bing Crosby Municipal Park at Warren Avenue and Commerce Street, Front Royal in Lion’s Shelter 5 at 12 noon on Saturday, Oct. 10. If possible, bring a picnic dish, friends, and family for a day of fun. For more information call Pat Salmon at 675-3137 after 6:30 p.m.
Flexercise classes
A six-week series of flexercise classes will begin at 5:45 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 1 at the Rappahannock Elementary School. Classes will be held Mondays and Thursdays. Fee is $25. Call Rose Ann Sharp, 675-3887, evenings for more information.
Horse show set
The Old Rag Mountain Pony Club Horse Show will be held beginning at 9 a.m. on Sunday, Oct. 4 at Hayday Farm in Culpeper. Entry fee is $6 per class. Food will be available on the grounds. For further information call Janet Bly at 937-4448, evenings.
Booster's bake sale
The Rappahannock Athletic Booster Club will be selling hot dogs, hamburgers, drinks and baked goods at That Sperryville Emporium Oct. 3 and 4. Please call Sandra Jenkins 675-3741, Jeanie Welch 9878332 or Carl Payne at 987-8148 if you wish to donate baked goods.
RCES PTO meeting
The monthly meeting of the RCES PTO will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 6 in the school library. Mr. Kirk Hahlgrin will explain the RJR Nabisco grant (computers in the classroom). Free babysitting will be provided.
Flea market planned
A fall flea market and car wash will be held from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 10. Those interested in renting a space should call 987-9402 or 675-3049. Baked goods, books, clothing and more will be available. This event is sponsored by the Rappahannock Elementary PTO and the Rappahannock High School yearbook staff. If you have donations to make to the PTO booth please call 675-3049. Everyone is invited to come out and support these groups.
Harvest dinner planned
The Flint Hill Ladies Auxiliary to the fire company will sponsor a fall harvest dinner beginning at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 17.
The menu will consist of ham, turkey and all the trimmings along with ice tea, coffee and dessert. The price will be $8 for adults and $4 for children. Tickets will be available at the door. For more information call 676-3663.
