Thelma Atkins
Thelma Christina Atkins, 85, of Sperryville died Monday, July 5 at Warren Memorial Hospital, Front Royal.
She was bom in Rappahannock County on August 21, 1907, daughter of the late George Washington and Martha Ella Atkins.
She was the wife of the late Lee Anderson Atkins.
Mrs. Atkins was a member of the Beech Springs Regular Baptist Church.
She is survived by a daughter, Lee Anna Wharton of Sperryville; two sons, James A. Atkins of Luray and B. Wilson Atkins of Sperryville; 11 grandchildren and 10 greatgrandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, July 7 at Clore Funeral Home in Culpeper.
Interment will be in Sperryville Cemetery with the Rev. Kirby Shank officiating.
Acting pallbearers are Ronnie Dodson, Cecil Atkins, James Swindler II, James Swindler, Bernard Jenkins and Huey Atkins.
Honorary pallbearers are Todd Atkins, Calvin Atkins, Roy Leake, Melvin Atkins, Shelby Atkins and Eddie Gore.
The family will receive friends at their residence.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Sperryville Volunteer Rescue Squad or the Washington Volunteer Rescue Squad.
