A sudden wind, rain and

electrical storm swept through Sperryville Friday evening, June 28, leaving heavy damage in its wake.

Two walls of the new Sperryville Fire Company’s building, now under construction, tumbled over in the face of high winds which swept down from the montains. About 2,000 cinder blocks toppled, taking windows and frames with them. The structure would have been ready to go under roof Monday morning. The building apparently received full impact of the winds which traveled in a streak.

Tuesday, July 9 is State wide primary election day.

In Rappahannock the seat of Commonwealths Attorney and two supervisor seats are contested.
