An indicator of the Commonwealth’s economic health, the Virginia Business Report, produced by the College of William & Mary, said that retail sales in the state slowed in April, but was expected to take off in the third quarter of the year.
According to the report, April’s moderate growth of 5.3 percent in the total dollar value for retail sales was almost half of March’s 10.7 percent. While well below the previous month, retail sales in April were still above the national level of 4.4 percent for the same period.
