I am concerned that recent news articles and radio news reports have painted a negative picture of the United Way.
This stems from the United Way of America reporting that last year was the worst year for fund raising in the United Way across the United States since the 1940s. Of course, we all remember the negative reports stemming from the controversy over the president of United Way of America and his ultimate departure. This, however, had no bearing on our local Piedmont United Way, which is based in Culpeper and serves Culpeper, Fauquier, Madison, Orange and Rappahannock.
