The Piedmont United Way is totally governed through Board Members representative of the counties that are covered by our local United Way. Less than one percent of our funds leave the communities which we serve.

In fact, the Piedmont United Way had a Successful year, raising $229,000 for 1993. This success came at a time when we, too, were experiencing a recession in our economy. However, our citizens realized and appreciated the benefit provided by the Piedmont United Way to the almost 30 agencies in the health and human services field which are supported by us.

The Allocations Panel, 15 community volunteers from Culpeper, Fauquier, Madison and Orange allocated the following amounts: American Red Cross-$2,500; Bluemont (Arts-in-Education)-$500; Culpeper Community Development Corporation-$14,000; Culpeper Literacy Council-$9,000; Culpeper Nursery School-$10,500; Fauquier Community Action Committee-$6,000; Fauquier Community Child Care-$3.000;
