Broadway Bound, Neil Simon’s famous autobiographical comedy which had a long run in New York on Broadway, comes to the Theatre at Washington at 8 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 10.
The play is the sequel to Brighton Beach Memoirs and Biloxi Blues, tracking Simon’s alter-ego, Eugene Jerome, as he makes his way into his soon-to-be illustrious comedy writing career. It was hailed by Time as Simon’s best, by Newsday as “a lovely play; warm, perceptive and gently humorous,” and by the New York Times as “expectedly funny and unexpectedly moving.” Simon, America’s premier comic playwright, has written dozens of comedies, farces and screenplays, at one time having an unheard-of four shows running successfully on Broadway.
