Several years ago Mrs. Ruth Peregory told her family is she lived to reach 50 she would like to have an “over the hill party” and her 50th birthday came on Thursday. Her children, Joe, Daniel, Joel, Sherrie and Missy honored her request and gave her that party which was a complete surprise to her until she reached the door at the Washington fire hall where the event took place on Saturday afternoon. Her colors of purple and black were used in all the decoration. In representing her age of getting older, many of her gifts were for such a time including a walking cane, black rim reading glasses, a hearing aid (also black), blakc handle tray for eating, black hat, old age soap to keep down wrinkles and numerous other “over the hill” gifts.
