To the Editor;
In response to the article in last weeks paper about election law violations, Doris Critzer and Mary Updike were accussed of circulating sample ballots that did not comply with Virginia Codes. In my opinion the intention of the article was to imply that Doris and Mary are already guilty of the violation. As a rule of thumb you are innocent until proven guilty. However this doesn’t seem to be the case.
This is a ludicrous monstrocity that has exceeded far beyond the necessary boundries. Considering all the mudslinging that has occurred in this election process, Doris and Mary’s involvement seems insignificant. In reference to the white ballots (which are coincidently unacceptable) if any other color were used, this probably would still have been the case, and charges would still be pending.
My suggestion for the next election would be for the proper authorities to completely clarify the rules and regulations set forth, so as to prevent any future misunderstandings.
In my view newcomers get all the recognition and natives have no say. Just a small piece of advice for those whom it may concern, people who live in glass houses shouldn’t throw stones. MARTHA HELEN CRITZER

We are hearing a lot about the candidacy of Oliver North for the U.S. Senate these days. We should hear a lot more.
We should hear, for example, that Mr. North has been tried and convicted of (1) perjury, or lying while under oath, (2) obstructing justice, that is, shredding and destroying possibly incriminating evi'' dence to prevent its disclosure to a Congressional investigating committee, and (3) converting government funds (approximately $13,000) to his own use and benefit.
