Again, governmental gun control, which Mr. North Opposes, is long overdue if people are to be secure. Why should any law abiding citizen want an assault weapon? How about poison gas canisters? When students graduate from the Harvard Law School, diplomas are conferred on the graduates who are said to have studied “the wise restraints that make men free.” In the interests of true individual freedom, a more balanced candidate than Mr. North would seek to eliminate only unwise restraints, not all of them.
This is, indeed an historic moment for Virginians. Will Virginians, the heirs of principled statesmen such sa Washington (who couldn’t tell a lie), Jefferson, Madison and Monroe, among many others, vote for a man such as Mr. North who has been convicted of committing crimes against the government he now seeks to join? Will they vote to their detriment for a candidate who espouses fatuous programs exploiting the fears of an underinformed, overly trusting electorate? I hope not.

Fire Hall Use

To the Editor:
I have lived in this area for six years. My son has been involved in the Cub Scouts and the R.A.A. (baseball) in Amissville. Both groups have been refused the use of the Amissville Firehall, unless they rented it for the going rate.
I thought all three were volunteer organization in a small community and should be working together.
I’m a Culpeper County resident, because of where I live I support both counties. Believe me, I don’t need to go to the Firemans Carnival and spend fifty dollars, but I do to help support them.
