The position is being filled on a temporary basis until a permanent teacher can be found, Mrs. Williams reported.
There are currently 657 students at the elementary school and 390 at the high school. The largest class is third grade with 99 students, but eighth grade is close behind with 98.
Dr. Gangel reported that work is nearing completion on the upgrade of the sewage lagoon at the elementary school. Some parts of the project may be held up waiting for more liquid in the lagoon. Rain would help ease this situation, he said.
With that work on schedule, Dr. Gangel estimated that $88,700 will be left over from the state bonds for the elementary school addition. The board approved his request to go ahead with requests for proposals for hard surfacing the high school track, lighting the high school parking lot and design plans for work on the earth science lab.
