The Shade Ranch outside Washington will be the site of a major event featuring bison (the American buffalo) this Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
Harold Thrower of The Shade is planning a three-day sale with a wide variety of compatible events including an American Indian “Powwow,” bus tours of historic Washington, and a feast of bison burgers and steaks.
Mr. Thrower said he expects to have more than 100 bison for sale. They will be coming from several ranches throughout the eastern United States. The event is intended to promote the reintroduction of bison to the United States and the use of bison meat as a healthier substitute for beef, he said. There will be literature and movies to educate the public about the past and future role of bison in America.
