To the Editor:
Ron Makela is running for the School Board seat from Jackson District because he believes in public school education. His son is in his second year at RCES and will continue there.
Mr. Makela believes that more emphasis must be placed on basic skills. All Seniors must leave our schools with the competence to balance a checkbook, prepare a resume and so forth. Technical education and college preparatory programs should be strengthened.
Many current School Board members already know Ron Makela and know of his concern for the children of our county. For over a year he has attended School Board meetings and understands many of the critical issues, especially the school budget process. Ron’s no-nonsense approach to fiscal responsibility will serve the residents of Jackson District well.

I read with interest the letters to the editor concerning the support for Ms. Scheer. While I personally do not know her, her lack of support for the Disney Park will certainly cause me not to support her.
