Yet another school year is under way at Rappahannock County High School. We begin the year with many changes ranging from new administration and teachers to new ideas and policies. Students have the opportunity this year to involve themselves in a very diverse curriculum due to the new class offerings.
Everyone has heard of the new administration, but actually they are not all that new. Many of the faces are the same. In a roundabout way the high school is playing a fun game of musical offices. Mr. Tupper has moved into the office for his first year of vice principal. Mr. Raines has moved down an office to become our new principal. Mr. Toth just didn’t disappear. He is now principal at Piedmont.
Along with the new faces in new positions also come new ideas and opportunities. Overall our school hopes to find a more peaceful environment this year and in the years to come. Many of the teachers are encouraged to deal with the bulk of their own disciplinary problems, leaving the office itself a more pleasant environment.
The school is also looking into the future as plans for block scheduling continue. Just to brief some of you up, instead of having seven periods in a school day where each period lasts around 50 minutes, next year there will only be four periods which last around 90 min
