help get a tower installed in the county for the use of cellular telephones. He said he got a cellular phone for use in an emergency, and when an emergency comes he cannot use it. He said he would be willing to have it put on his land, which is near Scrabble. He said that during the June floods Madison County residents made 1,500 calls using cellular phones because they had no normal phone service.
The board agreed to having Mr. McCarthy write to Rep. Wolf and ask that the county retain control over the location of such towers. There are new designs for towers besides the traditional three-sided one. Some towers are single poles, and some are intended to resemble pine trees, but they are made of metal and are 250 feet tall.
The board approved appointing Dean Hahn to the Criminal Justice Board but took no action on replacing Donna Kevis on the Recreational Facilities Board or Doug Baumgardner on the PD9 board. Both have resigned.
