Shenandoah National Park will host a special Hike and Bike Day this Saturday, Sept. 16. The northern third of Skyline Drive will be closed to motor vehicles from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. between Dickey Ridge Visitors Center, mile 4.6, and Elkwallow Wayside, milepost 24.
Hikers and bicyclists will be able to enjoy 19 miles of the Drive without motor vehicles. Visitors not wishing to participate that day can enter the park at one of the other three entrances at U.S. 211, U S. 33 and U.S. 250 or 1-64.
This is a unique occasion to walk or bicycle part of the Skyline Drive. Skateboard, roller skates, roller skis and in-line skates are prohibited. Bicyclists, as always, must stay on the
