To the Editor:
This is directed to those who removed flowers from graves in the Washington Masonic Cemetery.
How dare you? What makes you think you can clear the cemetery of all flowers, including headstone “saddles” and flowers well anchored in attached vases? Why would you think you can destroy other people’s property by tearing it apart, taking out flowers and leaving barren containers?
1 hope you never feel the pain that I experienced when I saw that the carefully chosen and wellsecured artificial flowers I had placed at the graves of my family members were gone. I would like an explanation. Please don’t tell me that only real flowers are allowed after Oct. 1. I planted real flowers, and they were thoughtlessly mowed down.
And just whose rule is it anyway that all flowers will be removed in three days, and does that mean real as well as “artificial” (real looking silk) flowers?
If by chance you had the mistaken idea that such a cleaning of the cemetery would be a community service, please direct your good intentions somewhere else. I would suggest offering to help an elderly person clean and repair a home. Give someone aid and comfort, and
