Responding to Commonwealth’s Attorney Peter Luke, Ms. Baldwin said that the grandchildren were upstairs when the incident occurred. She estimated that Mr. Snyder had 24 to 48 beers, but in later testimony he said that he only had between 12 and 16 beers.
Ms. Baldwin said that Mr. Snyder returned to the house the next day for his food stamps and his money, and that he threatened to come back and shoot her and Bob West if Mr. West was not gone by 5 p.m.
Susan Jenkins, Ms. Baldwin’s daughter, upheld her mother’s testimony, and added that Mr. Snyder threw a fan out into the yard. (Ms. Baldwin has asthma and having the fan on provides more oxygen for her, she said.) Ms. Jenkins said that Mr. Snyder was very angry and told her mother to get in the house “or else.” Ms. Jenkins said that after her mother went in the house, she went to the bedroom door to listen, “so I could hear if he beat her up.” She heard her
