The GOP’s afternoon session provided a surprise when Gil Davis, a Northern Virginia lawyer for the controversial Paula Jones, announced his candidacy for attorney general.
Ms. Jones, a former Arkansas state employee, has accused President Clinton of making unwanted sexual advances toward her while while he governor of Arkansas and has filed a sexual harassment lawsuit against him.
Mr. Davis repeatedly attacked President Clinton, as he alluded to using his client’s case against the 'president as the cornerstone of his campaign.
Besides Mr. Davis, Sen. Kenneth W. Stolle of Virginia Beach and former U.S. Attorney Richard Cullen are seeking the Republican nomination for attorney general.
