The Baileys have two daughters. Leah is a freshman at James Madison University. Lauren is in 10th grade at Waynesboro High School. Rev. Bailey said she may continue to attend Waynesboro after this year because she is very involved in the music program there. She could live with a family from his former church, he said.
Rev. Bailey was an associate minister and minister of education and youth at First Baptist Church in Waynesboro. Thpre he met Steve Scoggin, a former pastor at Washington Baptist, who is directing a counseling center housed in the church.
Rev. Bailey said he was getting more and more into programming at the church and was interested in getting back “on the pastoral side.” Rev. Scoggin knew of his interest and the vacancy at Washington Baptist and encouraged the search committee and Rev. Bailey to get together.
He found the church very welcoming. “It is a little warm and caring church,” he said. “I’m looking forward to trying to increase the local ministry, to develop our outreach to the community more, and I hope to do neat things with our local youth here.”
