The Science Fair will be held this year for grades 4th through 12th on Thursday and Friday, Feb. 8 and 9. The fair will be closed to the public from 8:30 to 11 a.m. forjudging, and then it will be open to the public from noon until 8 p.m.
The awards assembly is Friday, Feb. 9 at 1:30 p.m.
A special Science Fair will be held for kindergarten through third early in May. Special 6th and 7th -grade Science Fair advisers will be helping with comments and participation awards. This will not be a judged event. It is intended for learning and having some fun with science.
The third graders were treated to a puppet show given by David Wisniewski. This program was originally scheduled for the eighth graders only, but Mr. Wisniewski had some free time and it fit in with the third grade pull out time. So they got to see his show. This program was funded by the curriculum enrichment program and was enjoyed by everyone. Mf. Wisniewski is a children’s author and illustrator, and works with shadow puppetry. He explained how he was able to get his book published and explained show puppetry.
Student government has been reborn at RCES thanks to Miss Tower, Ms. Stanley and Mr. Smith. In years past (many years past) the school had a small student government council composed only of seventh grade officers. This year RCES has seventh grade officers and representives from each classroom who attend the meetings and report back to the classes with information.
