Naming the community room at the county library the Jamieson Room was wonderfully fitting.
- It is impossible to calculate all Mary and Jamie Jamieson have contributed to the growth and success of the library over the years. Certainly the very existence of the new building for the library on the edge of town is due to their efforts.
Mrs. Jamieson has been a tireless worker on the Library Board. She has enthusiastically backed all efforts to increase funding for the library and all library fund-raising campaigns.
Her championing of county produced performances of H.M.S. Pinafore as a fundraiser led to the revival of theater in the county. Her support for the Super Flea Market as a fundraiser led to the current Fourth of July street fair on .Washington. [ Mr. Jamieson founded the Friends of the Rappahannock Library organization that continues to greatly enhance library offerings. He took on responsibility for fund raising for the new building, and as a result the county has a debt-free library. • His efforts and advice have led to an endowment fund that rejluces the costs to the county to operate the library and guarantees that funds will be available for future expansion. • The remaned Jamieson Room will serve to remind future county citizens of the debt the county owes this remarkable couple for their magnificent contribution to county life.
