He is impressed with the beauty, of the countryside and the Town of Washington. He said he also appreciates the strong support for the arts in Rappahannock and he is interested in learning local history. He said he is also looking forward to doing trout fishing and hiking.
Rev. Bailey said he is also impressed with the ecumenical spirit among county churches and is looking forward to taking part in the Lenten dinners and programs at Trinity that are jointly sponsored by Trinity, St Peter’s Catholic Mission, the county Methodist Charge, Washington Baptist and Reynolds Baptist.
He said the church was well served by its interim pastor David Small who took over when the Rev. Darrell Bare left and the planning and evaluation work that went on while Rev. Bare was at Washington Baptist. “I will be looking at that and reevaluating it. I am impressed with what they have done already,” he said.
Rev. Bailey received his training in the ministry at Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary in Wake Forest, N.C. His undergraduate work was at Lynchburg College in his home town. Before going to Waynesboro he pastored churches in Weems, near Kilmarnock, and in Rustburg near Lynchburg.
