Irvin Kilby
Irvin Reynolds Kilby, 75, of Sperryville, died on Monday, Jap. 29 at Culpeper Memorial Hospital.
He was bom March 20, 1920, in Rappahannock County to the late Walter Bluford Kilby and Margaret Frances Yowell Kilby.
He was a graduate of VPI and SU and Ohio State University and was a member of the Gamma, Sigma, Delta Honor Society.
Mr. Kilby served as Captain during World War II in the U.S. Army Coast Artillery.
He was a member of F.T. Baptist Church where he was the Sunday School Superintendent, teacher, and chairman of the Deacons.
He also served as chairman of Rappahannock County School Board. Mr. Kilby was a member of the Veterans of Foreign War Post 1148.
He was a self-employed orchardist and farmer.
Survivors include, his wife Lucia Zeigler Kilby; one son, William Irvin Kilby, M.D. of Harrisonburg and one daughter, Mary K. Robertson of Fredericksburg.
He is also survived by one sister, Margaret K. Tyus of Richmond.
Additional survivors include three grandchildren, Christina A. Kilby, Marie C. Kilby and James A. Robertson, III.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, Jan. 31, from 7-8 p.m. at Found and Sons Funeral Home in Culpeper.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, Feb. 1, at 2 p.m. at F.T. Baptist Church with the Rev. Douglas Farmer officiating. Interment will follow in Fairview Cemetery.
