About 20 percent of Rappahannock’s public school students — mostly eighth graders and third graders — were treated last “Wednesday to a shadow-puppet presentation by David Wisniewski from Maryland, who is a professional puppeteer and creator of children’s books.

The younger students saw a show that entranced them with its action, mystery and special effects — all accomplished via the dark outlines of cut-oufe figures emanating from an overhead projector behind a white screen. The show was like a good Disney cartoon, except more moving and exciting by being created on the spot.
