In more Ruritan news, thanks to Alice Lawrence and her daughter Brenda for serving dinner at the December and January meetings.

President Bill Segrest reminds the community that couples may join the Ruritan Club for only $125. Cost for one spouse is $ 100/year. Meetings are held the third Thursday at 7:30 p.m. usually at Amissville Baptist. Call Mr. Segrest at 937-4604 for more details.

Thanks to Roger Cordani for donating a hugh stuffed snowman and reindeer as door prizes at the December meeting. They were won by Mr. Gilbert Lawrence and Mr. Frank McWhirt.

The Amissville Ruritan Club will host the Zone 3 meeting on Feb. 22.

Congratulations to Buddy Samuels who was recently elected as Ruritan District Governor.

At the Jan. 18 meeting, speaker Joe Higgs advised that approximately ten quadruple-your-dollar loan programs were still available.

Also, Denny O’Neill, representing the Rappahannock Athletic Association, discussed plans for the 1996 season. He said games will be on Saturdays starting at 10 a.m. and continue throughout the day. Practices will be held in the evenings Monday through Friday, but no scheduled use of the fields on Sunday. He offered to coordinate activities between the RAA and the Ruritans to avoid conflicts. He announced that Amissville will again host a tournament in July at the end of the regular season.
