To the Editor:
As we work our way through these months of heated political debate over what role government should play in our lives, it is a pleasure for this politically-moderate, 85-year-old, senior citizen to point out, with appreciation to all of those involved, an instance of private enterprise and government working effectively together to solve an emergency situation.
While this is a very small example of what can happen, it has undoubtedly happened many times to others in our county during our recent snow emergency.
After being snowbound for six days last week, I suddenly realized that my supply of blood pressure pills was exhausted. A call was made about my dilemma to the capable staff of the Rappahannock Medical Center. When they were told that we were snowed in, the Center staff promptly said not to worry that they would get the needed medicine to me. When reference was made to the fact that Oventop Mountain Lane to our house was blocked by snow and ice they said they would get it to me if they had to have it walked in.
