MASS MEETING OF

RAPPAHANNOCK COUNTY REPUBLICANS

I. Ronald L. Frazier, Chairman of the Rappahannock Republican Committee, hereby issue this Call for a Mass Meeting of the Republican Party to be held on Monday, March 18, 1996, at the Rappahannock County Courthouse, Washington, Va., beginning at 8:00 p.m.

The purposes of the Mass Meeting are:

(1) To elect 30 Delegates and 30 Alternates to the Republican State Convention, to be held at the Salem Civic Center, Salem, Va., beginning at 2:00 p.m. on May 31, 1996. The purposes of the State Convention are: to elect a State Republican Party Chairman; nominate two Presidential Electors; select a National Committeeman and Committeewoman; and elect 20 Delegates and 20 Alternates to the Republican National Convention to be held at the San Diego Civic Center, San Diego, Ca., beginning on Aug. 12. The purpose of the National Convention is to nominate Republican candidates for President and Vice President in the general election on Nov. 5. Rappahannock County has 6 Delegate Votes at the State Convention on the basis of one Delegate vote per 500 Republican votes for president and governor combined at their last election. Virginia has a total of 53 Delegates and 53 Alternates at the National Convention based upon the Rules of the previous national convention.

(2) To elect 60 Delegates and 60 Alternates to the 10th Congressional District Convention, to be held at the Handley High School, Winchester, Va., at 10:00 a.m. on May 18, 1996. The purpose of the District Convention is to elect a District Chairman of the RepublicinParty; elect three (3) representatives to the State Central Committee; nominate a Presidential Elector for the 10th Congressional District; and elect three (3) Delegates and three (3) Alternates to the Republican National Convention beginning on Aug. 12. Rappahannock County has 12 Delegate Votes at the District Convention on the basis of one Delegate Vote per 250 Republican votes for president and governor combined at their last election.

(3) To elect a Chairman of the Rappahannock Republican Committee.

(4) To elect 30 members of the Rappahannock Republican Committee as follows: Four (4) from each precinct and six (6) At-Large members.

AH persons seeking election as a Delegate to the State and/or District Convention must file in advance their intentions by a written statement along with all appropriate fees. The registration fee is $35.00 for the State Convention and $15.00 for the District Convention

All persons seeking election either as Rappahannock County Republican Chairman or a member of the Committee must File in advance their intentions by a written statement to current Chairman, Mr. Ronald L. FrazieT, 446 Viewtown Road, Amissville, VA 22002 ’

All written statements, and all fees payable to Rappahannock County Republican Committee must be received at the address above not later than 5:00 p.m. on Mar. 16, 1996, or must be postmarked by March 14, 1996, in order to be eligible for election at the mass meeting.

All legal and qualified voters of Rappahannock County, under the laws of the Commonwealth of Virginia, regardless of race, religion, national origin or sex, who are in accord with the principles of the Republican Party, and who, if requested, express in open meeting either orally or in writing as may be required their intent to support all of its nominees for public office in the ensuing election may participate as members of the Republican Party of Virginia in its mass meetings, party cahvasses, conventions, or primaries encompassing their respective election districts.
