Also approved were amendments to the zoning ordinance that require hydrogeological testing for subdivisions of five lots or more when any one lot is five or fewer acres and require that the draw-down test of water supplies go on for 48 hours, rather than 12 hours.
The planners agreed to hold a series of work sessions on the Comprehensive Plan. The work sessions will be during regular monthly meeting unless there are several applications to be considered at a meeting. In that case the work session will be the second Wednesday of the month.
The planners agreed to work with Mr. Malik on a study of Sperryville. He said RLEP would hire a firm to interview people and study the town if the planners would be willing tQ meet with representatives of the firm to discuss their recommendations.
They also agreed that Mr. McCarthy should negotiate with a firm working with the county on monitoring wells at the landfill to do a study of, water supplies in the Sperryville area.
“I absolutely concur,” Ms. Pierce said. “Only 7 percent of the world’s water is potable and that is expected to drop to 0 percent in 15 years.”
