“Our job is done. Let’s celebrate.” This set the mood for the December luncheon meeting of the Rappahannock County Garden Club.
During the previous week each club member had given two days to the “greens workshop” to complete orders for 96 wreaths, 133 feet of roping, 23 swags and 30 bows.
Everything, except the bows of course, was made of fresh greens gathered from members and friends. The proceeds from the sale of these will return to the community in various club projects such as scholarship awards and Nature Camp tuition for two Rappahannock County youngsters.
The rewarding luncheon for members and their guests was held at the Fauquier Springs Country Club which was gaily decorated with many poinsettias and Christmas ornaments.
Hostesses Mary Revercomb, Libby Byam, and Miranda Plotnick had selected a delicious menu which was enjoyed by all.
President Lucia Kilby held a short business session for a very favorable report on the greens sales by Sally Havstad.
The meeting was then turned over to entertainment with hostess Mary Revercomb presiding. She introduced Virginia Scott whose rendition of mountain folk songs was the highlight of the day. Virginia supplied her own zither accompaniment as she sang in dialect suitable for the mountain music.
Everyone left the party feeling the warmth of Christmas and good fellowship.
