Presentation open to public

Kick-off meeting scheduled
The kick-off meetiny for this year’s Relay for Life will be held on Tuesday, Jan. 25 at 7:30 p.m. at the Flint Hill fire hall. DMV Offices closed for holiday
All Department of Motor Vehicles customer service centers will be closed Friday, Dec. 31 through Monday, Jan. 3 in observance of the New Year’s holiday.
Number for Y2K information
Residents seeking information on Y2K issues or problems can call the Virginia Y2K Public Information Line toll-free. The telephone number is 1-888-200-0258.
The phone line will be in operation from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. daily until Dec. 30, the Virginia Department of Emergency Services said. Starting Dec. 31, New Year's Eve, the phone line will operate around the clock at least through 5 p.m. on Jan. 4, 2000.
The number is being provided to answer questions from the public about Virginia’s Y2K concerns and any problems that
could occi^uring the rollover to the New Year.
Rehearsals to begin Jan. 10
The Front Royal Oratorio Society will feature Carl Orff’s Carmina Burana on its spring concert at the end of April, 2000. New singers are being sought, especially sopranos, tenors and basses. Rehearsals begin Jan. 10 at 7:30 p.m. at the Front Royal Presbyterian Church on Luray Avenue. Auditions not required. For more information call 662-3616.
Fund drive underway at Chester Gap
The Chester Gap Volunteer Fire Department is having a special fund drive for the next several weeks in cooperation with Community Support Services. Families will be contacted by phone and asked to make a pledge. Each family that pledges receives a beautiful 10x13 canvas mount portrait, compliments 'pf the fire department. Playgroup mfets at Trinity
The Mother’s Playgroup rfow meets indoors at Trinity Episcopal Church on Fridays from 10 a.m. to noon. A donation will be collected weekly. For more information call Kathy at 9879099.
Shooting match at Castleton
The Castleton Volunteer Fire Department is sponsoring a shooting match every Friday night at 7 p.m. on the grounds of the department. Local residents are encouraged to support this endeavor.
