Roof repairs a go
Assistant Schools Superintendent Mary Ann Biggs revisited the subject of high school roof repairs raised last month by Superintendent Dr. David Gangel. She reminded the board that a quotation had been received from the school addition contractor, Miller Brothers, for the repair of the last roof section in the current phase, and that the quote received was significantly lower than costs for earlier comparable jobs.
Miller Brothers quote of $31,712 is some $20,000 lower than what might be expected based upon those earlier efforts, but they require a decision by April 1 of this year. County Administrator John McCarthy suggested that thefunds for the roof repair could be taken from anticipated surplus on the ballfield project. Chairman Pete Estes asked about the possibility of using school surplus funds for the repair, but Mrs. Biggs said that that had not been discussed, and school administration did not yet know what this year’s surplus might be.
